Sherwood Ward - Frank Williams

Frank has lived in the Ward since 1981. He is married with a grown up daughter. Frank teaches part time at the Bennet Memorial School and West Kent College, his main subject being Business Studies.

He was your Councillor from 1992 to 1996 during which time he proved himself to be an excellent champion of the Sherwood community. Since being re-elected in 2002 and 2004 as one of the three Sherwood Conservative Councillors, he has continued with that long tradition of strong community service.

He is convinced this government is the worst this country has had. It lets us down in unimaginable ways - whether it is the complete shambles on immigration policy, the unnecessary deaths in our hospitals, the early release of criminals, some of whom immediately go out and reoffend or the rising levels of benefits, particularly among young men and women. Its pressure for new housing in this Ward creates enormous problems for residents wishing to do even the most simple things – like crossing the road safely.

Over the past eight years the Conservative team of County and Borough Councillors has secured the heavy investment in improved facilities to serve the entire Sherwood community.

The significant investment in the High School of a new Sports Hall with access for all, is hopefully only the first stage of a major development to convert into a new type of school known as an Academy.
Major investment in a new Children's Centre on the site of the Sherwood Primary School. This is proving to be a popular focus for improved facilities for children with outstanding results, due to the commitment of staff and parents.
The re-development by KCC, the Borough Council and Town and Country Housing Association of the former YMCA building into a state of the art Community Centre and Library, TN2, is proving to be a very popular and attractive venue.
It is hoped that the completion of the new block of affordable units on the old community centre site will bring much needed housing for the community.

Frank has secured funding for a new survey of Oak Road/Clifton Road areas for a Residents Only Parking Scheme in 2008/09.

If re-elected he will continue to support the campaign for safe pedestrian crossings in Sandhurst Road and early action to relieve the congestion problems in the Longfield Road area.
