Rusthall Ward - Robert Atwood

Robert was born and bred in Kent and lived in Sevenoaks, where he was involved with a residents' association and was on the committee of the local Conservative Association, until 1970.

After around ten years working overseas in Europe and the Middle East, he returned to England and has lived in the area since 1979.

Robert qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1965 and has held Financial Directorships in a number of different organisations. He retired from full-time working in 2003 as Chairman of Mid Kent Water after 13 years in the water industry.

He has since been a director of the Kent and Medway Strategic Health Authority, and is a Trustee of a Charitable Educational Trust as well as continuing with private consultancy work.

He is keen to contribute his experience and knowledge for the benefit of the community. Only rarely does one find a candidate with such a wealth of experience passionate about contributing to the well being of his community.

If you elect this pro-active Candidate, Robert will:-

Make certain that pressure for new development does not compromise the quality of our environment and heritage
Press for the building of a refuge crossing on the A264 near to St Paul's Church.
Persuade the Authorities to provide a bus shelter and litter bin at the Parsonage Road terminal.
Secure funding for a pedestrian crossing on the High Street near to the school.
Search for a method of controlling traffic congestion in the High Street that is acceptable to traders and residents alike.
Support any initiatives which make life easier for the elderly in our society.
Consult with the residents to see if there is a clear majority that favours petitioning for a Parish Council for Rusthall.
Work with Greg Clark MP in his quest to stop back garden grabbing and town cramming.
Encourage the Council to sign up to a Quality Bus Partnership which should improve the accessibility to public transport for all.
