Lamberhurst & Goudhurst Ward - Barry Noakes

Barry has been the Councillor for Goudhurst with Kilndown and Curtisden Green from 1991 to 2002 and since then one of the two Councillors elected to the enlarged ward that encompassed Lamberhurst as well. Barry has also been a Parish Councillor since 1972 and is presently the Chairman of the Parish Council's Planning sub-committee.

Since 1998 he has been Chairman of the Borough Council's Eastern Area Planning Committee. He was a member of the Local Plan Working Party and is now a member of the Local Development Framework Working Party which replaced it in 2005. He is also vice-Chairman of the recently formed Audit Committee which, in collaboration with officers of the Audit Commission, reviews the financial activities of the council.

A Kentish man, he lived in Brenchley until 1964 when he moved to Goudhurst. He studied agriculture at Cambridge and has farmed in Goudhurst ever since. He has been a governor of Angley school in Cranbrook since 1970 and of Goudhurst Primary School since 1975. He has judged Sussex cattle at major Agricultural shows and interbreed events at the Royal Show.

If elected, Barry will:-

Actively assist both Parish Councils to improve the facilities for the young people of our villages.
Work with both Parish Councils to identify suitable rural exception sites to provide mixed tenure housing for our villagers.
Play an active part in the Council as they assemble a powerful lobby of all the MP's, County Councils, Borough and Parish Councils in Kent and Sussex where the A21 passes through to compel this government to increase the funding to the Regional Transport Board, so the road improvement schemes are not further delayed.
Actively pursue measures to reduce the impact of HGV's on our rural road system.
Work with our County Councillor on traffic management proposals to reduce the speed of all traffic through our villages.
Encourage the Forestry Commission to promote a new access to Bedgebury Forest before there are any additional proposals to further commercialise their asset.
