Beverley Palmer was born in the Weald, and has lived in Hawkhurst for over 18 years. She has two daughters, one grandchild and currently works for Kent County Council where she manages the Authority's Residential Centre. Before joining KCC she lived and worked in the USA. A Borough Councillor for the past six years she currently sits on the East Area Planning Committee, the Standards Committee and is Vice-Chair of the Local Economy and Housing Select Committee.

A Personal Message from Beverly.
It has been my privilege to represent the two villages of Hawkhurst and Sandhurst for the past six years as one of your three Borough Councillors.
Housing for local people in the villages is very much at the top of my priorities and I am delighted to be the Vice- Chairman of the Local Economy and Housing Select Committee. I am committed to the initiatives which will ensure that local people are given the opportunity of being allocated a property in their village. I will certainly strive to gain additional concessions to ensure people from both villages benefit from any local housing projects.
I am also interested in rural issues for our communities. With our rural way of life under threat, I believe that the Borough Council has an important part to play in preserving and enhancing our countryside and our heritage for future generations.
Living as I do along the Cranbrook Road, I can certainly appreciate the traffic problems of both villages. Speeding traffic is a particular problem for everyone. We have been active in supporting measures to improve road safety and I will continue to fight and support initiatives that make our villages a safer place to live, work and play.
I have enjoyed the last six years as your Borough Councillor, but there is still a lot of work to be done. I do hope you will support me this time around and give me the opportunity to continue to work for you at the Borough Council.
