Broadwater Ward - Barbara Cobbold

Barbara has lived in Broadwater for the last six years and has worked in the community in Ramslye and Showfields all of this time.

With her husband Doug they have lived in Showfields for 39 years and they have been married for 52 years!

They have one son who is married with two children, so Barbara and Doug are proud grandparents.


Barbara has served on the Western Area Planning Committee, the Licensing Committee and has also been appointed as the Council's representative on several outside bodies. She is also a Trustee at Number One which is a community cafe and children's nursery for all to use.

The Council is very proud to have Barbara as Mayor of the Borough for this year and Doug as her escort. They have been extremely diligent during this year and have been excellent ambassadors for Tunbridge Wells.

If elected as your Councillor, Barbara will:-

Actively support any measures which will maintain and improve Tunbridge Wells' economic vitality.
Make certain that pressure for new development does not compromise our quality of environment and heritage.
Fight political interference which threatens to undermine or damage our excellent local schools.
Welcome and give any needed assistance to the proposed new Children's Centre at Broadwater School
Engage with young people and explore initiatives to get them more activities, like a boxing club, to improve their health and fitness.
Campaign for improved community and sports facilities.
Support any initiatives which make life easier for the elderly in our society.
Encourage new strategies to deal with the effect of traffic on our town.
Be actively involved in developing a first-class Town Hall administration that is responsive to the needs of residents.
