Brenchley & Horsmonden Ward - Marcella Callow
I'm 37, married with two young boys and live in Horsmonden. I worked in London for 10 years but wanted to bring my children up in a community they could be a part of.
I've spent the last 2 years as Chairperson at Horsmonden Kindergarten - it's been hard work but I've absolutely loved it and met lots of inspiring people who are passionate about their community. I've had the chance to be involved in many aspects of village life including the Farmer's Market, Lockett Green, the Primary School and more.

I'd never really thought of myself as a "political" person, but I do feel passionately about getting things done for our community such as fighting to save our local library, keeping our public toilets open, providing proper facilities for our elderly and a play area for our children.
I want to bring all of my experience, skills and energy to make a difference for us all both in Horsmonden, Matfield, Brenchley and the wider Borough.
If elected as your Councillor, Marcella will:-
Actively support any measures which will maintain and improve the economic vitality of the Borough of Tunbridge Wells
Make certain that pressure for new development does not compromise our quality of environment, heritage and is aesthetically sympathetic.
Aim for a mix of affordable housing to attract a broad age and social mix and keep the villages vibrant.
Actively support local shops, especially post offices, as well as other local services and community groups. |
Engage with young people and explore all youth leisure activities. |
Support any initiatives which make life easier for the elderly in our society. |
Encourage new strategies to deal with the effect of traffic on our Borough especially HGV's. Examine current speed limits and effectively enforce them. |
With the County Councillor, continue to support the retention of the Library in the school. |
